NWLCRA, ...committed to the future of the Collision Industry.
April 5, 2016
The Northwest Louisiana Collision Repair Association (www.nwlcra.org) met at the Country Tavern Barbecue in their meeting room. Our meeting was opened by Chris Shepherd reading of the Anti-Trust law. Chris reminded us that it's time to renew our membership dues. Just go to our online Application form to fill it out. Print out the email you'll receive on completing the form and mail it with your dues, or bring it to our next meeting. I-CAR classes are also posted on the I-CAR web site through December 31, 2016. If you have any special request for an I-CAR class, contact Bill Burnside or Chris Shepherd.
Chris discussed the upcoming SKILLS USA high school competition that was held on April 7 and 8. There were sixteen contestants, which was up from last year. We had three from Caddo Parish and two from Bossier Parish competing. Of the two Bossier Parish students, one received Gold in the Automotive Refinish, and the other received Gold in the Collision Repair Technology. Caddo brought home one Silver medal in Automotive Refinish. Congratulations to all the students that competed. We are proud that our area students performed so well! The post secondary SKILLS USA competition will be held at Northwest Louisiana Technical College on April 21, 2016.
Chris reminded everyone that the Southern Automotive Repair Conference will be on April 8 and 9, 2016. If anyone is able to attend, we would like a quick update of the conference at our next meeting. The conference is going to be held in Biloxi, Mississippi.
Other business that was discussed were the upcoming ASE and ASA conferences. Chris Shepherd with Caddo Parish Career and Technology Center is going to be attending the ASE conference, and Elissa Larremore is going to be attending the ASA conference. They will give us a recap of these conferences at our following meetings after they have attended. Chris also talked about how Autobody News has been covering our meetings in both their online and printed version. We are thankful to the AutoBody News organization for their involvement in getting the news out about the Collision Industry and for covering our meetings.
Gary Weese, an Instructor with the Caddo Career and Technology Center - Automotive took 2 students to a National Competition. This event was held in New York. The students placed 9th in the Nation! Congratulations to Gary and his students.
